I got my academic start at Cal Poly Humboldt studying chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry, here I joined the Cappuccio lab modifying bacterial surface layer proteins for bioremediation. After graduation, I moved to Davis and joined the Tian lab, where I work on engineering red-shifted glutamate biosensors using a mix of intelligent design as well as directed evolution. When I’m not in the lab I am an avid outdoorsman, I like to spend my weeks hiking or backpacking in the summer and skiing in the winter.
