Hui Liu

Hui Liu is a rotating PhD student in the Tian Lab. Previously, she worked in Dr. Ryohei Yasuda's lab, where she explored CaMKII activation dynamics in vivo using FRET sensors combined with optogenetics. She earned her B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also worked with Dr. Seth Childers to study the liquid-liquid phase separation properties of intrinsically disordered proteins. She is currently working on characterizing and validating a novel red-shifted dopamine sensor to explore dopamine dynamics in the context of various brain states. When not in the lab, Hui enjoys running, reading, knitting, and skydiving—anything to trigger that endogenous dopamine rush!
