Kiran Long-Iyer

Kiran Long-Iyer is a PhD candidate in the Tian Lab. Prior to graduate school, they studied hippocampal memory systems in the Hales lab at UCSD and worked at a San Diego-based startup as a technical specialist in fiber photometry. Their research interests lie at the junction of tool development and application. Kiran is currently working on expanding the palette of fluorescent serotonin sensors for in vivo imaging and characterizing distinct serotonin signatures in the midbrain during aversive learning. Outside of the lab, you can find Kiran crafting or hunting for the perfect picnic spot.
